Juan Ford is a Melbourne based contemporary artists known for the remarkable hyper-realism that characterises his paintings. Ford merges conventional painting modalities of figuration, botanical illustration and landscape and reframes them in unexpected and arresting ways.
Ford's work is underpinned by ecological concerns and the paintings in this exhibition are no exception, they were created in response to the devastating bushfires that raged last summer.
Ford has exhibited extensively nationally and participated in several international art fairs including Art Basel in Hong Kong (2013) and Sydney Contemporary (2017 & 18). His work appears in many institutional collections as well as private collections in Australia and overseas.
