DEBORAH WILLIAMS | Meet my gaze

Silver Leaf Art Box is pleased to present Meet My Gaze by printmaker Deborah Williams – the artist’s first solo exhibition in Victoria in four years. Williams’ work is held in public and private collections throughout Australia and overseas.
Williams’ subject matter is almost exclusively dogs. She has been depicting them for years and is highly regarded for doing so. Her attentiveness to them is abiding, passionate, anatomical and poignant. Williams’s new work probes philosophical questions of otherness and being in the world, as the artist points out - For a (domestic) dog, it must surely be a complex relationship, enduring and interdependent, loving and loyal, yet simply ‘other’. It is the ‘other’ that I endeavour to depict.
