Collection: CATHERINE HULL SINCLAIR

Catherine Hull Sinclair is an Australian painter currently living in the UK. Sinclair’s paintings generate ideas of mortality and the complex relationship between human and more than human worlds. The ceramic forms she depicts add conceptual layers through their decorative patterns as well as their potential both to hold and to break.

Sinclair’s formative practice focussed on miniature painting in gouache. She went on to study ceramic design, creating forms highly decorated with bird and flower imagery. Later she discovered oil painting; she revelled in the vibrant colour and freedom this medium offered. Sinclair’s interest in miniature painting and decorative ceramics are intrinsic to her painting today.

Sinclair has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions and her work appears in private collections in Australia and the United Kingdom.
