Kate Ellis lives and works in Melbourne. She graduated from VCA in 1995. Her solo exhibitions include Untitled (Poodle/Human) at Caves Gallery, Melbourne (2018), Melbourne International Arts Festival (2006), Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces (2004), and several solo exhibitions at 1st Floor (1994-2002).

Recent group exhibitions include It’s raining in Sunshine, Lon Gallery (2021), The Utopian Object (2019) C3, The Figure Becomes Lost Caves 2019, Goodbye Hello, Caves (2019), Gardening is Not a Rational Act (2017) at C3, Every Day at Murray White Room, A Fragile State at Martin Brown Sydney, Melbourne Art Fair Karen Woodbury Gallery (2008), You’re so Vain at Karen Woodbury Gallery, Pitch Your Own Tent at Monash University Museum of Art, and exhibitions in Singapore and New Zealand.

Kate was the recipient of the Deakin University Small Sculpture Prize (2019), the Darebin La Trobe Art Prize and has been short listed for the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize. In 2020 she was a recipient of the Constant Ecologies grant through the City of Melbourne. Collections include Deakin University, La Trobe University, Artbank NSW and various private collections.
