Alix Hunter is an emerging Australian painter based in Melbourne.
Hunter paints small moments, exploring dualities such as the wild and the domestic, translucency and opacity as well as light and shadow. She works in oils from direct observation.
Hunter’s work is concerned with the qualities and pigments of oil paint and the craft of painting. Her work celebrates space, harmony and simplicity. Hunter has a great love for the Australian bush, her work frequently pays tribute to the bizarre beauty of our wonderful bush flora. She is drawn by texture, colour and tone. Her work is poetic, intriguing and contemplative.
Hunter lives in Melbourne with her partner and child. She and her family are heading to the bush at every opportunity and are very regular visitors to the wonderful bushlands of the Mornington Peninsula, particularly Westernport Bay.
